Jerry Springer in a musical!?
Hey! It’s Drea! Time for more updates from the theatre world in San Diego and around the country. It’s been rumored that the famous talk-show host Jerry Springer may join the cast of ‘Chicago’ in the New York company sometime next month.
No, it’s not a joke. This is the real deal. Jerry Springer may actually be in a musical! There is talk that he will be playing the famous lawyer Billy Flynn at the Ambassador Theatre. However, a spokesperson for the production could not confirm the casting. Springer told the New York daily that he will play week-long runs in Chicago in Atlanta and Philadelphia.
At a recent press conference in London, Springer stated “Who wouldn’t want to be on broadway?” I sense some foreshadowing but we’ll see what happens. I believe that if he played Billy Flynn it wouldn’t be a complete surprise, I can see it. From his image I can completely see where the casting director is coming from for choosing Jerry Springer to be in this broadway musical.
