After 12 rounds, the Filipino boxing champion Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao was declared the new WBO welterweight champion after knocking out Miguel Cotto on Saturday night.

Pacquiao, who fought at 144 pounds on Saturdy, the heaviest he ever had weighed for a fight beat down Cotto from start to finish. Pacquiao showed no mercy to Cotto as he pounded away and eventully took his title with a TKO in the 12th round.

Throughout the fight, Pacquiao had the match set, It was obvious Cotto was struggling to deal with Pacquiao’s quickness. He continued to flail away with both hands, Cotto was taking more shots than he was returning which was making it tough for him to win rounds.

After several rounds, Cotto injured his shoulder in the 8th round but refused to quit. Pac-Man tried to finish the fight in the 9th but Cotto just wasn’t ready to give up. 11 rounds later, referee Kenny Bayless saw that Cotto had taken enough punishment, stopped the fight after a minute into the final round.

With that being said, the crowd stood up and cheered as Pacquiao’s ran into the ring to congratulate him. The endless chanting began with “We want Floyd!” and when asked the question to Pacquiao he simply stated “My job is to fight in the ring…My promoter makes the fights.” However, when his trainer Freddy Roach was asked if they would fight Floyd Mayweather, without any hesitation he said “Sure, we’ll fight Mayweather next.”
