James McAvoy Cast as Professor X in X-MEN: FIRST CLASS!

Wow! Never thought I’d see that coming! James McAvoy (Wanted) is the first actor to officially be cast in Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class, and he will take on the role of Professor X! Obviously he will play a much younger version of the character. But this is some pretty crazy casting!

According to Fox, X-Men First Class will take us down the road of the epic beginning of the X-Men saga. Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were archenemies, they were the closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known. In the process, a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.

Bryan Singer came up with the story for the film that is being made, and Fox is looking to start shooting in London this Summer for a June 3rd, 2011 release date.

What are your thoughts on this?!
