Destination D

For all you Disney fanatics out there, a recent press release informed us of an upcoming special event catered to celebrate Disneyland’s 55th year Anniversary. The inaugural 2 day special event is called: Destination D

Here is a snippet of what the release stated:

The inaugural DESTINATION D, whose theme is “Disneyland ’55,” will be held this Sept. 24-25. DESTINATION D: Disneyland ’55 will take D23 Members on a journey through the design, creation, debut and magical history of the world’s first Disney theme park. The first DESTINATION D will be held in the Grand Ballroom of the Disneyland Hotel.

DESTINATION D: Disneyland ’55 will offer two full days of special presentations, panels, screenings and guest speakers that let fans meet and talk with key figures in Disneyland’s history. Future DESTINATION D events will explore other important aspects of Disney’s creative legacy. Following its premiere in September, DESTINATION D will alternate annually with the enormously popular D23 EXPO.

After attending the first ever D23 Expo last year, I know that this will be another special treat. Disney went all out for the Expo and I expect this to be no different. This unique event is more personal than the Expo and should be missed. Here is what they have planned so far:

The D23 team is in the midst of developing exclusive programming for DESTINATION D – but an early peek at plans reveals a host of special speakers, presentations and panels throughout the two-day event, including:

• “Disneyland: The Way We Were” – Disney’s Chief Archivist Dave Smith will look back at highlights from Disneyland history;
• “Disney Undiscovered” – An exploration of never-built projects and attractions developed for Disneyland;
• “23 on 55” – The Walt Disney Archives celebrates Disneyland’s 55th anniversary;
• “Weird Disney” – A showcase for some of the quirky, little-known facts, places, people and ideas that even the most avid fan might not know.

More details on the programming and events planned for DESTINATION D: Disneyland ’55 – as well as details about the 2011 D23 EXPO – will be available soon at www.disney.com/D23. Tickets will go on sale early this summer.

Although I know the D23 Expo wont be back till 2011, this Destination D event should be enough to keep me at bay till next years Expo.

Halo Legends

I’m a big fan of Halo! How can you not be when this franchise is actively one of the most recognizable games in the past decade?

Many of us fans have been waiting to see Halo get the big screen treatment. With rumors from Steven Spielberg as a producer to Peter Jackson having interest, this is DVD is what we’ve been waiting for. Yes, its not live, but it will do…for now!

This anime released format of the Halo universe will delve into its early origins and other stories that have yet to be explored. It is based around the concept of how the Matrix franchise did it a while ago by releasing The Animatrix.

A recent review from IGN had this to say:

The two-hour anthology begins with “Origins,” a broad overview of the Halo story as recounted by Cortana to an unconscious Master Chief. This chapter offers a comprehensive recap of the Forerunners, the Flood, and the war between humanity and the Covenant in the millennia after the Halo rings were first activated. Thankfully, it doesn’t focus on Master Chief’s adventure, so we’re allowed the broadest, most informative overview of the narrative.

That right there is enough to get me to buy it. But wait there is more, as a matter of fact 7 more episodes of stories!!

From Paris with Love Poster

I just finished watching From Paris with Love starring John Travolta & Jonathan Rhys Meyers . From watching the tube all week being bombarded with its trailers and marketing, it kinda piqued my interest.  Aside from seeing a shaven John Travolta, which I totally found uber weird, the movie was a delightful surprise.

Charlie Wax & Reese

The movie was short, 1 hour 35 minutes long, but was straight to the point.  The pace was good and I didnt find it lag or sputter at all.  What surprised me the most was the chemistry of the two characters in this film.  They were perfect for each other.  You had Travolta’s character, Charlie Wax who is the veteran “secret agent”, and Meyers character, Reese as the new training!  It kinda reminded me of bad cop/good cop but with smirky humor.

Travolta’s performance in this film was just awesome!  He totally nailed his character with his witty banter and cocky attitude!  There were a lot of instances that his humor shined either with words or his action/reaction on screen.

Over all, I recommend you to watch this flick.  It’s entertaining from the plot to action sequences plus Travolta’s comedic performance.  It gets 9.5 out of 10!

Who is Logan Lerman?  I’m sure you all have no idea of who this young actor is, but you soon will in a couple weeks when Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief gets released nationwide.  If this film does well as many expect it as, then he will soon be a household name.

He might become a household name if he lands the role in the Spider-man Reboot!!!

During the “Billy Bush Show” Logans conversation veered into the realm of Sony’s upcoming Spider-Man reboot. Dring the interview he stated:

“There have been a few discussions, it’s definitely something I’m looking into. It’s [Spider-man] one of my favorite characters ever and I’m a huge fan of the series. I’d love to have more conversations about it. I’m definitely very interested in it.”

This could be a good move on both sides.  Logan certainly looks like the part from the Ultimate Spider-man comics, which the reboot will be loosely based upon. He’s young and if Percy Jackson does well then he would bring in a nice fan base with it.  I really can’t say to much about his acting skill since I’ve never seen any of his films, but I’m sure he has the ability to pull it off.

The Last Airbender

It’s just been reported from UGO that the latest M. Night Shaymalan helmed film, The Last Airbender will receive some tv spot in one of the most watched event yearly, aka The Superbowl.

Although I’m not impressed with Mr. Shaymalan’s recent works( The Happening, Lady in the Water), I’m fairly excited to see this film.  Its based off a very popular anime with a very strong following.

This looks visually awesome!  I just hope he didn’t butcher the core story!  What do you guys think?
