It looks like Tim Burton isn’t quite done directing live-action/CG Disney film based on the story of Sleeping Beauty called Maleficent.

The film Maleficent so cool is that it will tell the story of Sleeping Beauty from the villain’s point of view! In my opinion Maleficent is one of the darkest most evil villains in the Disney universe. She actually conjures up all of the powers of hell to get what she wanted! She really had a deep hatred for the people of the Kingdom in which Princess Aurora lived. What caused that hatred? This movie should end up exploring the reasons for why Maleficent is the way she is.

Burton was supposed to direct Dark Shadows next with Johnny Depp, but apparently that movie is going through a rough road right now. These problems may be due to the fact that Pirates 4 is going to shoot soon cutting into Dark Shadows’ shooting schedule meaning no Johnny Depp. The Dark Shadows film may end up getting delayed while Depp shoots Pirates, leaving Burton open to direct another film, possibly Maleficent. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see!
